How I Stop Tinnitus

It's 9:30 a.m. and my ears are clear.

That's because I took 40 mg. of Vinpocetine when I awoke this morning at 6:30. This afternoon I'll take 20 mg. more, which will stop the sizzling all day. I've been taking 60 mg. of Vinpocetine a day for several years, with no side effects or diminution of results.

Thank goodness Vinpocetine is inexpensive. Without this regimen, tinnitus would ruin my life.

Some people stockpile food. I've squirelled away a year's supply of Vinpocetine and plan to order one more year's supply to keep on hand. It's unsettling to think I'd ever not have the Vinpocetine I need to calm my ears.

  1. I started trying Vinpocetine about 5 days ago. I started off gradually, so ensure that I had no undesired side-effects. For the past couple of days, I have ramped up to your level. 40mg in the morning, 20mg in the afternoon. However, I'm a 175lb male. I assumed that I would need a higher dosage, but wanted to see what yours was like first.

So far, I do not seem to have any noticeable reduction in my tinnitus. However, I do have moderate headaches, focused on my ear and jaw areas. And when I take the 40mg in the morning (on an empty stomach) I feel nauseous for about an hour.

I will try sticking with it, but so far, it's been a bit disappointing. Any suggestions on how I can improve my experience with Vinpocetine? Thanks in advance!

  2. timbley, I also take two capsules of Ginko Biloba every day, 120 mg each. But I believe the Vinpocetine is what does the trick for me. I remember it worked pretty fast, too. To test any possible male/female differential, I recently gave a bottle to a guy friend with tinnitus and will follow up to see if it worked for him. BTW, did you injure your ears with noise like I did? (An iPod messed me up.)

  3. Thanks for the Ginko Biloba comment. I have been thinking of trying it, but thought I'd try the Vinpocetine first. (I've given up on it now. Either it actually made my ringing worse, or was just noticing it more!)

My tinnitus started around 22 years ago, when I was 13 old. About the time of walkmans, incidentally. I listened to a lot of loud music (i.e. rave scene, loud headphones) in my 20's, so that probably did not help much, either!
